I’m so happy you’re here!

Here’s me with my dog, Serotonin, during my graduation from UCF (Go Knights!).

About me

Clinical

My name is Emmy, and I am a Florida-based psychotherapist. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021, and became fully licensed as an LMHC in 2023. My clinical experience includes psychiatric hospitals, residential programs, substance misuse facilities, jails, IOP/PHP facilities, and now finally private practice. I have worked with a wide range of different people and their mental health obstacles, at different levels of care as well as with different community backgrounds. I have experience with both adolescents and adults of all ages, from 12 and up. I am always seeking to learn new things and gather new experience. My main focuses for clinical growth this year are to complete more trainings to better treat Eating Disorders and OCD.

Style

I’m not your grandma’s therapist…I’m driven by debunking and breaking societal standards that hold us all back. I LOVE to question the boxes each of us are put into by society and stigmas. One of my major passion areas is inner power and developing a true and genuine experience of self-love and self-compassion within my clients. As a queer therapist, I understand the complexities that our identities and beyond can weave into our healing journeys. I am consistently working toward being a better intersectional therapist and understanding my clients to the best of my ability. I recognize there are experiences and feelings I may never understand- but I am willing to walk alongside you as we figure them out together. I am also a rather direct therapist…if you’re looking for a Yes-woman, I may not be your girl. However, if you’re looking for someone to reflect discrepancies to help you reach your fullest potential- even if it’s hard- then I may be a good fit for you.

Personal

I love quotes, art, water, flowers, laughter, and my dog, Serotonin. I always have a cheesy joke on hand or a weird metaphor to help get my point across. When I’m not in the office, I love spending time with my friends and family, playing board games, trying new restaurants, or going to the beach. I love to be creative and to create, and I love to help people make lasting changes in their lives!

  • CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, is a type of therapy focused on three major parts of self: thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT emphasizes the importance of changing the way you think to then change the way you feel and thus behave. You can learn more about CBT here.

  • DBT, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, is a type of therapy based on specific modules and "methods" of coping. DBT emphasizes four main modules- Mindfulness, Interpersonal Relationships, Distress Tolerance, and Emotional Regulation. DBT seeks to provide a framework for handling difficult emotions and situations. You can learn more about DBT here.

  • Existentialism is an orientation in therapy focused around perceived meaning from experiences and then recreating that meaning. Existentialism seeks to break down societal and internal "boxes" that exist to sort and process information in order to be able to do it differently moving froward. You can learn more about Existentialism in therapy here.

  • Feminist therapy is an orientation that focuses on recognizing and deconstructing the societal pressures that exist for each individual. Feminist therapy not only understands the intersectionality that affects marginalized people (not just women-think people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, immigrants, etc.), but it seeks to empower from within while recognizing these barriers and finding ways to overcome. You can learn more about Feminist therapy here.
